AI can write more code. Who reviews it? OpenAI announces plans to acquire Pierre

What happened?

More generated code also means more changes to understand. On 4 November, OpenAI announced plans to acquire Pierre Computer Company. Pierre’s Trees and Diffs tools already support file navigation and change review in Codex. The aim is to adapt Git-based workflows to teams working with AI coding agents. Completion remains subject to closing conditions, including regulatory approvals.

How could this help me?

A software team should measure more than code-generation speed. Understanding, testing and approving a suggestion also take time. If AI prepares many changes that people cannot review, work still queues up. Smaller changes, clear explanations and an assigned reviewer can make the workflow easier to manage today.

ExampleIllustrative scenario

An e-commerce team needs to stop expired discount codes being accepted. Rather than ask AI to rewrite the whole checkout, it describes that single problem.

A developer compares the old and new lines and checks that only the relevant rule changed. The team tests three cases: a valid coupon, an expired coupon and an order without a coupon. A second colleague reviews the results. The manager records review and correction time as well as the time needed to prepare the suggestion. If more suggestions create longer queues, the team reduces the number of changes in progress. This is a workflow a team could use before the acquisition closes, not a newly announced Codex feature or a measured saving.
