BCG Matrix

A resource allocation framework that classifies product lines or business units into four groups using market growth and relative market share.

Simple example

Iced coffee in a market growing by 20%, with a relative share of 1.5, is a star in our example.

Why does it matter?

It helps frame decisions about which businesses to grow, protect or reassess. It does not make investment decisions on its own.
