Recommendation system
A system that selects or ranks existing products, content or options using criteria such as how well they suit a user.
Simple example
You say that you would like a seaside trip with little walking. From the places it knows about, the app highlights options that might suit those preferences.
Why does it matter?
It makes a large set of options easier to explore. Recommendations may draw on your stated preferences, previous behaviour, choices made by similar users, or features of the options themselves. The system may use rules, machine learning, or a combination of both. An option appearing at the top does not mean it is definitely the best one for you.
